Putnam County Bans Use of Fracking Waste
The Putnam County NY Legislature voted unanimously on March 6, 2013 to ban the sale of fracking waste, its use on county roads and private land, and its introduction into county or privately-run wastewater treatment plants.
Westchester County Bans Use of Fracking Wastewater
The Westcher County, NY, Board of Legislators unanimously voted in December of 2012 to prohibit county facilities from treating the wastewater produced by Natural Gas drilling. They also won’t allow any of its brine, typically used to de-ice roads, to be used within the county borders.
